Rati Bregadze: If there is a need for this, Mikheil Saakashvili may be provided with medical services outside the penitentiary institution in Georgia

If there is a need for this, Mikheil Saakashvili may be provided with medical services outside the penitentiary institution in Georgia, said the Minister of Justice of Georgia, Rati Bregadze. As he noted, the third President of Georgia is under 24-hour medical supervision and, when it is necessary, he is provided with all kinds of medical measures. "The information [that Saakashvili cannot move independently] is a lie. He can move independently. When you spread false information about the state of human health, you are making their family members nervous and trying to contribute to public unrest, which is harmful," said Bregadze. He also said that on April 30, the Ministry of Justice addressed the Public Defender with a question regarding Mikheil Saakashvili's health. According to Bregadze, the questions concerned the non-public part of the conclusion of the group of experts created by the Public Defender. "These were not questions asked by me or any of the lawyers, but by doctors, to which, unfortunately, we have not received an answer in writing. Now this issue will be decided by doctors. If anyone is interested in Mikheil Saakashvili's health, it's us. I want to reassure everyone that both the Ministry of Justice and the state will do their best to keep Mikheil Saakashvili in good health, as we do in the case of any other prisoner. Information that the Ministry of Justice or the state declares no confidence in doctors is a lie. We are not saying that we distrust doctors. We asked if the Public Defender, as they say, has the written consent of Mikheil Saakashvili, and I urge them to make the written questions public and let the medical community discuss," said the Minister.
