Changes at Ministry of Defense

Irakli Gharibashvili, the Minister of Defense of Georgia, made significant personnel changes in the Ministry. According to the amendments, Giorgi Matiashvili was appointed as Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces and West Commander-in-Chief of the General Staff. Major General Zaza Chkhaidze was dismissed as Chief of General Staff of the Defense Forces and was appointed Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces. At the same time, another Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces, Major General Shalva Jabakhidze, was dismissed from the post and was appointed Military Representative of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna.
